Structural Steel Erection
Industrial facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, commercial buildings. From 10,000 square feet to multi-building campuses — our crews have put it up.
CapabilitiesStructural steel erection, crane services, and heavy haul — from the same family, on the same land, since Eisenhower was president.
Bracken Construction was founded in Jackson, Mississippi by three men who knew steel. Seven decades later, the company is still run by the same family — now by Chris and Jeff Bracken, the sons of J.C. Bracken.
What started as a small crew on South Gallatin Street grew into Mississippi's most experienced structural steel erector. We added our first hydraulic crane in 1969. By 1966 we owned eight. Today we own more than twenty, and they all go up on jobsites with our operators at the controls.
We didn't get here by cutting corners. We got here by erecting steel on schedule, on budget, and without sending anyone home hurt. That's the standard J.C. set. It's the standard we keep.

Steel, cranes, and heavy haul — under one roof, on one schedule. GCs hire us because they can call one number for work most firms have to split between three.
Industrial facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, commercial buildings. From 10,000 square feet to multi-building campuses — our crews have put it up.
CapabilitiesTwenty-plus owned cranes. Operators on the payroll, not pulled from a temp pool. When you book a Bracken crane, you book the whole lift — iron, rigging, schedule.
Fleet & RentalOversized loads, structural components, equipment moves. Our trucks and trailers are built for weight most carriers won't touch. Permitted, escorted, delivered.
TransportThere are a lot of steel erectors. Most of them rent their cranes, sub out their operators, and learned the business after we'd already been in it for forty years. Here's what you get with Bracken.
No rental surprises. No last-minute swaps. When we bid a lift, the iron is already ours — it's been ours, some of it, for decades.
Our ironworkers, riggers, and crane operators work for Bracken. They know our safety standards because we taught them. When you hire us, you hire the crew that shows up.
Safety isn't a slogan on the truck door. It's how we've stayed in business since 1956. We call the shot before we make the lift, every time.
A look at a few of the projects our crews have put up across Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana.
2024
420,000 sq ft distribution facility. Structural steel erection and tilt-up crane support for a regional logistics operator.
2023
Tier-1 automotive supplier expansion. Structural frame and mezzanines for a 180,000 sq ft production addition.
2023
Three-building medical office campus. Steel frame and curtainwall support for a 95,000 sq ft healthcare facility.
We've used a lot of steel subs. Bracken shows up with their own cranes, their own operators, and a schedule they actually hit. That's the whole game.Project Manager · Regional General Contractor
Send us the drawings and a rough schedule. We'll walk the site if it helps, and we'll get you a bid that tells you what the project actually takes — not what you want to hear.
